Washington Mch 20/67
Genl. Schofield
Comg. Military Dept. of Va.

Sir,

I am a native of Va., and was in the U.S. Service as Quarter Masters Clerk in the field during the Rebellion, after the war I returned to my home in Va, about a month after my return my house was entered at night by a body of paroled rebel soldiers and robbed of everything we had of value, a pistol was held at my head while others ransacked my house and treated my old mother & sister in the most brutal & shameful manner, by the hardest I found out the parties who committed the act & got warrants from two different Magistrates for their arrest but could not have them executed on account
