This Deed made this 2nd day of June 1866 between Alfred Boyd & Wm T Boyd merchants & partners acting and trading [[strikethrough]] together [[/strikethrough]] under the firm & style of A Boyd & Son of the one part and S R Johnson of the other part, all of Mecklenburg County Virginia,

Witnesseth, that the said A Boyd & Son doth grant transfer & assign to the said S R Johnson Trustee the following property, to wit, the interest of said A Boyd & Son being one half of a steam saw mill owned by them jointly with Wm Townes In which mill is located on the lands of said Townes. All the right title & interest of the said A Boyd & Son in law or equity to the tract of land on which Mark A Barnett resides adjoining the lands of Dr Giles Harris Wm Townes Jr & others. Containing by estimation one hundred & fifty acres more or less which land was sold by them to the said Barnett reserving the title [[strikethrough]] for [[/strikethrough]] as [[strikethrough]] surety [[/strikethrough]] security for the payment of the purchased money which though long since due has not yet been paid. All of the stock of goods of every kind, character & description of the said A Boyd & Son has on hand all of the mercantile Books all account Bonds debts judgments demands rights & credits, and all evidences whatsoever of debts whether now due or to become due hereafter [[?]] A Boyd & Son In Trust to secure the payment. First of the following debts designated as of the First Class, to wit, An open account to Smith & Co. due March 1st 1866 of Two hundred & eighty-four dollars ($284.23) and twenty three cents. An open account to Jno. J. Speed due 1st May 1866 of Four hundred ($400) dollars, A note of A Boyd & Son to L C Pettus dated 28th Feby 1866 payable on demand for one hundred and fifty dollars ($150.15) and fifteen cents. A Note to Wm Townes Sr dated 6th June 1865 payable on demand Seven hundred & Seventy Seven dollars ($777.94) and ninety four cents due 30th May 1866. An open account to M Perrin & Son due 11th Jany 1866 for Eighty one dollars ($81.93) and ninety three cents. An open a/c to E L Focke due 11th Nov: 1865 for Fifty-Five dollars ($55.85) & eighty five centers. An open account to J M Oram Son & Co due 28th Feby 1866 for four hundred and seventy two dollars ($472.66) & sixty six cents. An open a/c to E Whitman & Sons due 19th March 1866 for two hundred & fifty-six ($256.22) & twenty-two cents. An open account to Wm A Dean & Co due 17th March 1866 for one thousand and twenty dollars ($1020.25) & twenty five cents.
