Sir,

In reply to the charges made against me by Mr. T. Tull "Pastor M.E. Church" and "Ex Chap'l U.S.A." I would state that the whole statement is false, in the first place, no injustice has been done to Stepney Poulson, but that he had every opportunity to defend himself, had he or the friends that he seemed to have found at this late day, (had served him as they seem to be making a mock of doing at this time,) appeared, in his behalf at the March term of the County Court, when said Stepney after having due and timely notice to appear, failed to appear and defend his suit.-
 
I took charge of this Office March 20th 1867, and on the 25th inst. I was in the Court House and listened
