These farms were take from the Bureau by Col. Lewis. the matter has not yet been adjusted — You had better write to Lieut Keatly Supt: of Freedmen at Norfolk. Enquire if he has yet got these farms in his possession and whether Capt Flagg will not give you lumber from the mills in exchange for the material used in the Buildings.

Please forward to this office as soon as possible, a connected description of the tracts of land hereinafter named, as the record upon the Books of the U.S. Dist Attorney is not Sufficiently definite - I know of no other way for you to obtain the information desired, but by visiting the farms named. Let the description be as brief as may be consistent with clearness, distinguishing each tract or parcel when practicable by the number of acres contained therein, and by the name of Contiguous tracts or farms, and
