I am directed [[strikethrough]]to States[[/strikethrough]] by Col O. Brown Asst; Comr; to State, that from reports that reach this office, he is disposed to think that the affairs of this Bureau on the Eastern Shore, require a very thorough examination, particularly the financial operation in that District. He understands that Govt Horses are still in the hands of the Farmers, having been let to them buy the Superintendent - It is further Stated that four or five (4 or 5) Thousand dollars are Still due the Bureau for rent of horses, Sale of crops, Standing Timber &c. Mr Ed Heatly, Treasury Agent at Drummond town, will give you further information. Mr Heatly will turn over to you about (75) Seventy five farms on the Eastern Shore
