In all localities where cattle have been slaughtered
for the use of the Army. Dist Supts will have collected by the Freedman all the bones lying on the ground, employing for this purpose So far as practicable. those who are dependents on the Government for Support, They will at once Contract for the Sale of Such bones. forwarding such contracts to these Head Qrs. for approval. The Freedman will rec'v so much per ton for all bones collected by them. The price paid to depend on the price received from the contractor

Dear Sir
Yours of the 26th ult has been received and consided. The Bureau has no funds with which to pay the Salaries of Civilians in its Service. If your Support can be provided for, I Shall be very glad of your Services. and will furnish you transportation in the discharge of your duties. I enclose transportation on any Govt: Transport from N.Y. to Fort Monroe. If however you prefer to come by Baltimore you may return the enclosed transportation to me and I will Send you a similar order from Baltimore to Fort Monroe.

Whereas it has been represented at this office. that Robert Smith a freed colored man, has certain crops and other property rightfully belonging to him, - on the farm of his former owner. Col. T. Carter of King William Co. - it is hereby ordered that he be not molested in possession of Such property nor driven from the Farm, until an authorized Agent of this Bureau, can investigate and decide upon the claims of Said Robert Smith.
