3d. No explanation is given as to where or how this error of $5.00 occurred~ The balance carried from the July account agrees with the amount on hand in August.~

In reply to your communication of 31st August (just received) addressed to Col O. Brown in relation to the "Norfolk Savings Bank"~ I am directed by the Asst Com'r to inform you that the funds and books of that Bank were transferred to the "National Freedmens Savings and Trust Company" in June last.~
I enclose you a printed card, which will give you the name of the Cashier and location of the Norfolk branch of the above named Bank.~ Mr Percy will give you any information you may desire.~ Rest assured that the deposits of your men are in good hands.~

Mr. O.F. Baxter made application to these Head Quarters of date 18th Sept. respectfully asking that the interest of the Government in the crops on his three farms in Princess Ann County be surrendered to him from the 30th June, the date on which he took the Amnesty Oath.~ His pardon is dated 19th August.~
The enclosed extract from an endorsement on his application, dated Washington, 23d September, 1865, will govern your action in this and similar cases.~
