No report have been received from you in relation to the Freedmen on the estate of Mr Wm Jordan you are hereby directed to require all that are able to work to enter into contracts for their services.
You will aid such a require your assistance in the matter in collecting just wages for their services but you will at once take measures to break up colonies of vagrants on this or any other estate within your Sub. District.
You will report your action in this case to these HeadQuarters through the proper channel.

The amount of lumber on hand on the 31 July was 51.868 but on August the 1st you have it 51.863 feet.

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 14th inst to Maj Genl. Howard wich was referred by him by this Bureau, and to reply as follows, By the Proclamation of President Lincoln of January 1" 1863, it is ordered and declared that all persons held as slaves within certain districts (in which King Geo. Co. includes "are and henceforth shall be free"  
The freedmen you refer to having been from the 1" January
