Captain,
Authority having been received from Maj. Genl. Howard. Commissioner &c. of date Sept 7th 1865 giving to Judge Baker possession of his house No 34 Boush Street, Norfolk Va, subject to the decision of the U.S. Dist Com'r, at a moderate rent, which court dismissed the libel, thereby giving him full possession of his property. The Asst. Commissioner, considers that in consequence of the agreement having been entered into on the 1st of Sept. 1865. being 20 days prior to the date of the lease, said agreement being unauthorized, the lease is null, and void. It is therefore ordered, that you give the tenant, one months notice, to vacate the house, at the expiration of which Judge Baker will receive possession. In order to satisfy all parties it is desired that you see Judge Baker and request him not to collect rent for the last month, in consideration of Mr McKims giving up the house.
I am Captain
Very Respectfully
Your Obed. Servt.
