Sir-
In reply to your letter of the 2nd inst. to Major Gen'l Howard, and which has been refered to Col. O. Brown, I am directed to inform you, that if upon investigation, the evils you complain of, are found to exist, they will at once be remedied. The Asst Commissioner desires that you inform him of the "similar case" refered to in your letter, of a Colorado man being elected to sit on the "Freedmens Court"

Lieutenant,
You will please move the children at Camp Lee, into the Building occupied as a School Room. The School will be at once discontinued, and Mr Metcalfs family provided with other quarters. The suffering of these orphans from exposure is most intense and inhuman. Please report as soon as you have acted on above instructions.

John McKinnrey "Cold" has been to these Head Qrs. & states that John Priddy of Lunensburg Co, has his daughter Lucey who is under age. He further states that he is able to provide for the daughter, and that he applied to Mr. Priddy for her, and he refused to let him have her. You will investigate this case, reporting the result to these Head Qrs.
