The Asst. Commissioner directs me to request you to inform him, if a colored man named Claiborne Holmes, is at Yorktown or in that vicinity - Claiborne has a wife and 5 children, living on the farm of G. W. Basset, Old Church, Hanover Co. -
Cause inquiries to be made at once, and forward results to these Head Quarters-

Captain, 
The Asst. Commissioner Bureau R. F. and A.L. is informed that a number of sutlers are congregating at City Point within the limits of your command, in expectation of the arrival of the colored troops to be mustered out.
Feeling that the congregation of these sutlers at that point can result in nothing but pecuniary loss to the troops - more especially after muster-out they being then without special military protection - 
The Asst. Commissioner directs me to respectfully request you to order the sutlers and traders away from your posts and without the the limits of your command. - 
The Asst. Commissioner hopes that you will feel yourself justified in pursuing this course, as he feels that it would be much to the interest and benefit of the troops.

You will also inform me whether, in orders that have been already issued and in which the names were written in full, transportation was furnished for all as adults or if the destination of adults and children was made - An early answer is requested -
