I have the pleasure to enclose check No. 8227, 1st Natl. Bank Richmond Va on 1st National Bank Norfolk Va. payable to your order, for the sum of $223.33/100 -
On certificate No. 130 for $100, there was $1.67 deducted for internal revenue tax- This latter amount with the amount of the enclosed check covers the amounts on the two certificates- viz. $225 -

Soldiers now bring mustered out of service not to put any claims which they may have against the Govt in the hands of Claims Agents, as claims will be collected free of charge upon application to the Bureau.
