It having been reported to these Head Quarters that "a Captain of Regulators" waited on a school Teacher at Appomattox C.H. and told him he must leave or be hung.
The Captain said he would have to be governed by the "Regulators" though other citizens tried to prevent the teacher from leaving -
The Assistant Commissioner therefore directs that you make a thorough investigation and report in the case, forwarding the same to these Head Quarters with as little delay as possible.
