Captain I have the honor to return herewith the discharge of Peter Gambray from the U.S. Navy and call your attention to the following extract from a letter from the War Department. viz: "No bounty is allowed a person enlisting in the Navy prior to July 1st 1864 unless they were transferred from the Army to the Navy - after July 1st 1864 the same bounty was allowed to persons enlisting in the Navy as to those enlisting in the Army." - Gambray entered the service in 1862 and therefore can receive no bounty.
