John H. Clark formally Corporal Co. "B" 2nd U.S.C.L. Art. Plymouth Walker formally Sargeant Co. "C" 1st U.S.C.Cav. John H.C. Banks formally Private Co. "K" 1st U.S.C.Cav. The following extract from Genl. Howards letter returning above applications, will explain why they are returned.- viz: "These men are not mustered on rolls as free and "consquently are not entitled to Bounty unless acceptable proof of "freedom on or before April 19th 1861, be adduced in support of their "claims"- A certified copy of the Court record, or if that is not obtainable, the affidavits of two white persons as to the freedom of these men should be forwarded.
