Barnes Captain Stuart
A.Q.M. & Supt. 2nd Dist. Va.
Captain
I am directed to call your attention to the following endorsement from this office dated May 15th 1866. "Respectfully referred to Captain S. Barnes A.Q.M & Supt. "The horse seized by Lt. Col. Powell Mar. 13th 1866 under G.O.77 Q.M.G.O dated Dec 15th 1865- Order from Q.M.G.O. Feby 15th 1866 revoked Genl orders 77. The horse therefore should not have "been seized for the Govt.- So far as the claim of the plaintif (cold) "for the horse is concerned, there is no evidence to substantiate it "and the horse should be given to Barnes."-
The Asst. Commissioner directs that you forward to this office any and all papers in any way connected with this case that may be in your office.-
Very Respectfully
