Comr. to acknowledge the receipt of your communication dated June 8th enclosing papers in the following claims for retained bounty - viz: William Smith, for William Adams, Jeremiah Scott, Augustus Everett, John White, Alexander Ramsey, Sandy H. Willard, Peter Sugar, Austin Moody, Preston Parker, Jacob Sugar, Jackson Wadkins, William Parker, August Blue, Howard Jones, and Rufin Turner, also date of James McGuire's enlistment. - They have all been forwarded to Washington with the following exceptions which are returned herewith - viz: August Blue - month of enlistment wrong - also christian name - the man appears to have been mustered in Dec. 14, his christian name is given as Augur. Jackson Wadkins - Surname wrong - appears on our lists as Watkins - another witnesses signature required. Howard Jones - Christian name wrong, appears on lists as Howells. Captain I am directed by the Assistant Commissioner to acknowledge the receipt of your communication of June 9th enclosing the following claims for U.S. Bounty &c. viz: Nathan Mitchell, Frank Skeeter, George Phillips, Huldah Gordon, Mary Hendson, and Milly Smith - four of the applications have been forwarded to Washington, the other two are returned herewith -viz: Mary Hendson - another witnesses signature required - (application enclosed.)
