General
I respectfully request the information whether the 31st U.S.C.T. is still in the service. The object of this enquiry is to ascertain the whereabouts of one Private William Moore who has sent a check for $270.00/100 to General S.C. Armstrong, Agent of the Bureau R.F. & A.L. at Fort Monroe Va. in favor of his mother Mrs. Martha Moore.
The officers of the Bureau are unable to find her and desire to communicate with her son so as to get such information as will lead to her discovery.-
I am General
