I am directed by the Asst. Commissioner to acknowledge the receipt of your communication of July 31st 1866, forwarded by [[strike through]]Maj.[[/strike through]] Major Crandon, and to direct that you communicate with the persons against whom judgements have been granted by the Freedmen's Courts in favor of Freedmen, for services rendered, and request the payments of the same.-
If they refuse to settle; you will seize upon enough of their personal property (the same to be sold at public auction) to satisfy these judgements.-
If unable to carry out these instructions your-self, you will call upon the officer in command of troops, nearest your station, for the necessary troops to assist you.
