Major,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communication dated 27th inst in relation to Census blanks, and requesting instructions. - Sufficient Blanks were furnished Major Crandon to take a census in accordance with Circular Letter of instructions, of which the following is, an extract. viz: "You will as soon as possible take a census of all colored people within your District in accordance with the accompanying form marked "A:" -

Are there no blank census forms in your Dist.? Cannot the returns in your office be completed or renovated?

No Census of Culpeper Co. has ever been received at these Head Quarters. -

How many blanks shall you require?
I am Major,
Very Respctfully
