December 4, 1953. Mr. W. W. Short, President, Congress Of American Indians, Hotel Westward Ho, Phoenix, Arizona. Dear Mr. Short: Hotel Fontenelle cordially invites the congress of American Indians to hold their convention in Omaha in 1954 and to head-quarter it at Hotel Fontenelle which takes it's name after that great leader of the Omaha Tribe. In 1954 Omaha will celebrate it's 100th birthday with a year-long program of activities. It would seem appropriate, considering the history of Omaha and our Indian names that your congress would come to Omaha, and, if it is should, then make the Fontenelle it's headquarters. The Fontenelle, a leading convention hotel in the midwest, has eleven public rooms of various sizes for your convention. Any of three rooms would be available for your convention meetings. The enclosed floor plans picture them and tell their capacities. We assure you that if you do come to the Fontenelle in '54, we will go all out to make your convention an outstanding one. Hoping that you will enjoy a most successful convention this year, we are Cordially yours, HOTEL FONTENELLE Lloyd T. Griswold Convention and Sales Department LTG:mh CC: Helen L. Peterson
