Senator Clinton Anderson
Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C.

My dear Senator Anderson:

Mrs. Helen L. Peterson, Executive Director of the National Congress pf American Indians, discussed with me the possibility of your addressing the Eleventh Annual Convention of the National Congress of American Indians during October in Omaha, Nebraska, at Hotel Fontenelle.

I am indeed very pleased to learn that you may be able to accept the discussion on, "The Effect of Legislation on the Future of Indian" with emphasis on the pending legislation. Accordingly, this is an official invitation to request that you honor us with a panel discussing on October 29th, Friday at nine o'clock in the morning.

For your information, we are planning to invite Honorable E. Y. Barry, Chairman House Sub-Committee on Indian Affairs, Congressman Carl Alberts of Oklahoma, Oliver LaFarge, President of the American Association on Indian Affairs, D'Arcy McNickle, Flathead Indian, Director, AID Development Program of the National Congress of American Indians, and Francis McKinley, Ute Indian, Director of Fort Duchesne Housing Project.

At 10:30 a.m. it is proposed to have coffee and a TV film on Senator Watkins and Smather. This is to be followed by a question and answer period during which time members on the panel will have an opportunity to expand on their remarks.

I shall appreciate it deeply if you will let me know at your convenience whether it will be possible for you to participate in this discussion.

Sincerely yours,
NATIONAL CONGRESS OF AMERICAN INDIANS

John C. Rainer
Chairman, Program Committee
