Dear Tommie:

This letter will probably find you in a complete state of collapse, what with the opening of your exhibition and the opening of the Fair. From all reports I hear that it is brilliant, and sincerely hope that I will get out in due time.

If the pressure of your various affairs has let up, perhaps you can give me some information. Who is Mr. Leroy Backus, who bought the wonderful drawings from the Rosenthal Collection (through Schaffer)? I had heard that he had bought these drawings prior to the publication of the Art News Annual, and was most interested as it is very unusual today to find someone who suddenly starts buying such top-notch old master drawings.

As yet no sign of Nicol. Has he come east, or were his plans changed?

Give Francesca my very best love, and with all good wishes to yourself,

As ever -

Yours,

(Robert M. Levy)
