CALIFORNIA PALACE OF THE LEGION OF HONOR
Lincoln Park
San Francisco, California

OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR

July 28, 1938.

Mr. Germain Seligmann,
Jacques Seligmann and Company,
3 East 51st Street,
New York, N. Y.

Dear Mr. Seligmann:

The Board of Trustees and the Director of the California Palace of the Legion of Honor wish to express to you their sincere appreciation of your generous participation in the exhibition of Venetian Painting now closing at our museum.

It was your friendly cooperation and that of other lenders which enabled us to make this exhibition an outstanding event in the art life of San Francisco. The catalogue which was mailed to you will have given you an idea of the artisitic quality of the exhibition which, indeed, has been termed one of the most representative showings of Venetian Painting ever assembled in this country.

Thousands of San Franciscans and many others who came from out of town for this particular purpose and have visited and enjoyed the exhibition. We are confident, therefore, that in expressing our own gratitude we are voicing the sentiment of a great majority of the city's population.

Very sincerely yours,
