Dear Walter:

Do you remember the portrait of the Earl of Guilford by Gainsborough which I took you to see in a Mr. Kohlman's apartment at the Waldorf several years ago?

Mr. Kohlman who had bought this painting from us at the time now wants to dispose of it. I had told him that you were writing a book is to appear in the near future.

If not I am wondering if you would be kind enough to give him a certificate as it would help him to sell the painting.

Could you also tell me if you know how I could do business with Mr. Williams? HKS.

We have known him and his wife for years and I see him frequently in Paris. He came several times years ago to the Palais Sagan and last spring I brought him to Rue de la Paix and showed him paintings. We have never been able to do any business with him. Is there any body you know of who advises him?

Hope you and your wife are well and with kindest regards,
Believe me,
Cordially yours
Rene Seligmann
We have for the Gainsborough endorsement from Carl Heemschel and John Levy but Mr. Kohlman would like an opinion from an official -
