Office Supt 1st Dist Va Norfolk Feby 12th 1867 Respectfully returned to the Asst Comr with information that the matter has been carefully investigate and no evidence can be obtained of Edward Long ever owning the horse or any horse at that time. David Palmer states that he drove the team at that time for Wm. Reid who owned it and sold it to Robt Jordan who has the horse now. The horse was not sold under a warrant. David King states that he has been intimately acquainted with Long for (12) twelve years and that he (Long) never owned a horse. He is sure that Long did not own a horse at that time. Wm. P.
