Office of Asst. Supt. B.R.F. & A.L.
Sub Dist. of Essex, King & Queen & Middlesex Co's.
Tappahannock, Essex Co. Va. March 22, 1867.

Bvt. Brig. Genl. O. Brown
A.A.A.G. Dept. of the Potomac

General,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your "Confidential" letter requiring me to report the names of six or more white and black men of my Sub-Dist. I have to state that I cannot get exactly such men as you prefer in Essex County, and not the full number in the other two counties; therefore I prefer waiting until the next mail leaves this place before forwarding the names, which will arrive in Richmond next Wednesday night.

I am, General,
Very Respectfully, Your obt. servt.
Watson R. Wentworth
2nd Lieut. V.R.C. & Asst. Supt. &c.
