May I ask of you the favour to see Genl Scofield and see if he will turn over to me any of the buildings on my land that has been occupied by the Freedmans Bureau, & if it is the purpose of the government to sell them regardless of the injunction. of Judge Marshall. They are advertized to be sold on the 23rd this month. I have been so much damaged that I think I ought to receive something to repair and build up my houses and funds. I have been regularly pardoned by the president if that has anything to do with it)  I am in great need of some course lumber to repair & fit up some houses, and have not the money to buy with.
