I am sorry to inform you that the prospects of inducing the Freedpeople on the Taylor Farm to enter into a contract with Mr. Taylor are decidedly unfavorable.  Mr. Taylor having agreed to leave the matter to arbitrators, the difficulty now is with the Freedmen.  The great majority of them are firmly opposed to paying any rent for the land.  I visited the farm [[strikethrough]] yesterda [[/strikethrough]] on the 13th in company with Mr. Tazewell Taylor and the son of Mr. W.E. Taylor.  Father Parker and the others who met you at my office refused to act
