and Mr Linticum one of my workmen requested her to put them down and let them alone.  She said that she would not; that she would have some of them; Linticum told her to go away and mind her own affairs; which she refused to do or leave the building, he put her out of the building.

On Sunday morning the Husband of the woman came to Mr Linticum and asked him if he was the man that put his wife out of the building, and upon being informed that he was, commenced an attack upon him with a pistol.  Linticum called upon a Mr Denny a Magistrate to have the colored man arrested and ordered to keep the peace.  Denny made no reply and the consequence was a fight. 

The colored people gathered in large numbers and Capt Chandler was with them.  Heard Capt Chandler say that they had ought to of "come to him", "that they had rights and that they should have them" did not hear him say that they should rise and assert their rights, did not hear him advise them to purchase or procure Arms to enforce their rights, did not hear him say what their rights were, do not think that he intended to convey any other way than a legitimate and peaceable way, have no recollection of ever stating that I heard Capt Chandler advise them to procure Arms or Ammunition, have no reason
