Dear Cousin Rosa,
I was made glad to day at the receipt of your letter, it found me well and hope this may find you the same - Cousin, You ask me about your children and to get them at my house: I can send you word where they are, but I have not got any money to go after them. I think you had better come and see about your children yourself. Your boy Henry is bound out to Dr. Hancock, Hertford N.C. your girl is out in Princess Anne County. Clayton has been dead, for over a year, he died at Crany Island. Give my love to Hester Grandy, and where is Maria Riddick. Give my love to all of my friends and reserve a large portion for yourself. Brother Sanderson Riddick sends his love. Your brother Henry, is dead also. I believe that is all the news. I know it is sad, but I think you ought to know it. Write to me soon.
