   Herein please find the condensed result of the "census of the colored population of Elizabeth City Co" but lately completed, and comprising all the colored population with the exception of from three to four hundred living in a corner of the county from eight to ten miles distant; though it would have been very desirable to have had that number incorporated in the census tables, including them would have only altered the aggregate and not the average result.  They were  not taken because transportation could not be secured, at that time it being found impossible to procure a horse.  The whole   number represented however cannot vary but little from the  number now here as at least three hundred have left
