for the principles of equality or love for liberty and the great principles upon which liberty and justice are founded - that they are visited with all the vituperation, hate, and insult that their inginuity and craftiness can conceive.

Cases of the most trifling nature are continually being brot against the colored people; and when brot before the Magistrates who now sit on the Bench, the slightest evidence is enough (as they say) to "put them through", against all the evidence and exertions of the Bureau Agent.

I herewith send you statement of Lieut Wentworth Bureau Agent at Tappahannock  I made enquiries in relation to the facts of the case and am satisfied that the facts are stated correctly
