and made an apology; and Rowe drew a knife and cut the freedman, so severly that he is now confined. Mr Rowe then went to the House of Mr Roderick Bland a Justice of the Peace. The colored people armed themselves and followed him to the House. Mr Bland told them that he would have Rowe tried, accordingly a day was appointed, the freedman appearing armed as before, and finding that they could not get justice, they demanded a suspension of the trial until Lieut Wentworth could be notified and be present. Rowe was admitted to Bail. Lt Wentworth having the facts ordered the trial to be postponed until the 15 of July, his order was treated with contempt, and the case as stated by the Justice is carried forward to the August term of Court.
