and conversed with the Ferrymen - and they are of the opinion that they cannot get justice done them, and I am fully of that opinion, and I would respectfully recommend that the Trial of Mr Rowe should be before a Military Commission.

There are no Schools in this Division for the education of the Freedman and public opinion among the Whites is very much opposed to any such measures.

The Colored people in Essex County are building several Churches with all the facilities for schools and will make application to the Bureau for Teachers when their buildings are completed.
