Mr. Joseph R. Garry, President
National Congress of American Indians
c/o Hotel Newhouse
Salt Lake City, Utah

Dear Mr. Garry:

I have on this date received your invitation to attend the Thirteenth Annual Convention of the National Congress of American Indians to be held in Salt Lake City, September 24-28, 1956.

I sincerely regret that prior commitments make it impossible for me to attend your convention for this year. I am certain that I would have been able to gain very much from the material which will no doubt be presented at your meetings and also, I would have welcomed this opportunity to get acquainted with more of those of you who are active in behalf of the Indian people and your organization.

May I take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation for the invitation and wish your group a very successful meeting. I feel certain that your meeting will develop ideas and programs which will lead to substantial benefits to our Indian people.

Thank you again for your thoughtfulness in extending the invitation.

Sincerely yours,
Hill Dither
Area Director
