Afternoon session
Reading of Committees by Helen Peterson, (They are listed in order of reading on the program.)
President Garry 1/4 I thank you very much, Mrs. Peterson. The following changes Ann Geoge, originally designated for registration changed to arts and craft. Is the Nez Perce delegation here, Who has been designated as Chariman?Angus Wilson placed in Resolutions Committee. Is there any special reason you wish to be assigned to any other committe in addition to the one you are now serving on, I will give you an assignment. All chairman of triabl councils may participate or attend in any committee. Now I will have Helen Peterson read the instruction to the various committees.
Mrs. Peterson: The only committee that is very large is the Resolutions Committee, and if you will determine your needs a room will be sought to fill your needs. The Election Committee for the Convention is expected to assemble all supplies and set up all procedures for carrying on the election. The Tribal votes and the individual votes sometimes cause confusion in an election. It is your job to work out an election procedure which is a smooth as possible to determine and have carefully in hand the number of votes each tribe will cast and to set up these procedures. Have colors selected and your tables set up previous to the election 1/2 thefirst of which will be Wednesday night on resolutions and the next will be the election of officers on Thursday afternoon. Miss Henderson and I will do everything we can to help each election committee. The Public Relations Committee of course, will make such recommendations and report as it wishes to, but especially we should like to have you tell the American Congress of American Indians what you think it can do to help each tribe do a better public relations job within each tribe.Keep in mind what is possible by way of money and fact but if you can makerecommendations about how your national organization can help you wherever you are, we hope that you will be sure and include that. Each committee is hoped to comment on your committee's field in the last year and make recommendations for the next year. The Public Relations Committee, for example, mightlook at and criticize and report on
