To Mrs Lilly M. Spencer, Neward, N.J. (Sunnywild)- Watkins, Schuyler Co., N.Y. June 18th, 1868 Dear Madam, I have been allowed gratification to be in receipt of your kind and valued favor of 28th May - enclosing in accordance with my solicitation your photograph and for which I beg that you will accept my sincere thanks. I was pained to hear of your affliction illness - I can more readily and deeply sympathize with strong suffering with sickness, as I have long been an invalid, and during longer portions of time in Feb'y, March, & April, was kept by illness to my couch, as I also have been far past two weeks - this being the first letter which I have attempted to write within number of days.
