The Union League Club
Madison ave & 26" St
New York
Dec. 20, 1877

Dear Mrs. Spencer,
If I could have gotten at the Art Com. of this club a day sooner, your "Waiting for the Wave" would have been sent for to be exhibited tomorrow night at the Reception of the President. However, and in my opinion, all the better for you, it may be exhibited at the monthly meeting, which is the Annual meeting of the Club in January.

In the meantime I propose to [[strikethrough]] come [[/strikethrough]] run out to Newark for a look at it and whatever else you have there.
I have mis-laid your address tho I can probably find my way to your residence. But I advise sending me your card. I am glad I have made your personal acquaintance and I trust I may be of service in helping you exchange your good work for $s

Sincerely,
Cyrus Butler
