My dear mother

I have been away for two weeks and should not be home now but was compelled triumph over illness. I have been in bed since returning up to [[?]] writing, that is since Saturday evening last. With a heavy fever and intense pain in my back and sides, and thanks LJ good morning, and the deliver considerable, letter to-day but very weak. We were disappointed in my hearing from you and for that you may be affanded at our not coming up, but with me dear Martins it has been through the best of motives. did you get my last letter, I am anxious to know as I included a few dollars
