1890 - 1845 45 30 East 38th Street. March 5th 1890 My dear Mrs Spencer! Only last evening, did I receive your letter dated February 17th, bringing me the sad tidings of your dear husband's death. I sincerely sympathize with you and your children in this irreparable loss. I was sorry to learn of the disappointment you experienced in the disposal of your pictures. I will go this very morning to see Mr. Draper and ask him to keep the pictures a little longer until you can come and make other arrangements. Now, dear Mrs. Spencer, the question arises, what can I do for you in this hour of trouble? Tell me frankly and I will see whether it is in my power to give you a proof of our long standing friendship, for your sake and the boys! Possibly you may come to town very soon. If not write to me at once. I remain, dear Mrs Spencer, Very sincerely Yours W. Lehans
