I oppened this letter as Flora wanted me to put her letter in with mine wich has delayed this letter

Charley has not yet been able to write as he comes home so late, and Lilly's boil on her chin has been so painfull that she could not write.  But she will.  We are buried in snow here.  and Brooklyn where my pictures are is buried in a railroad strike!

Dear, Dear old Petter!
let me call you by the dear old name.

I returned from New York last Tuesday where I was about two weeks, but met with no success in the way of raising money, and very little better success in seeing the people, I wanted to see.  the first week it rained and stormed fearfully every day!  and when it grew fine every body I went to see was out, or had the grip!  Oh time seems to be dreadful in New York, and indeed everywhere.  still I don't know why I don't feel discouraged at all.  and though I met with no immediate success, something may come of my efforts.
We got your dear letter Wednesday morning how glad we were! for it enabled us with what we had, to
