Bureau R. F. and A. Lands
Office A.S.A.C. 1st Div. 3rd Sub Dist Va.
Richmond Va. Feb. 5th 1868.

Respectfully returned to Lt. Paul R. Hambrick S. A. C. with the information that the within named girl "Maria" is now residing with Mrs. Eacho as stated but not bound to her as alleged. Mrs. Eacho is greatly attached to this child, who she has taught to spell and read and receive kind treatment. She shed tears on learning that a request had been made for Maria. In behalf of this child who is not willing to separate from Mrs. E. I recommend that the request of the Grandmother be not complied with.
