Respectfully returned to Col. O. Brown, Asst. Comr. &c. State of Va.
Mr. Peek kept store in Hampton before the war, and was one of the most rabid of rebels. He was instrumental in raising the Hampton Artillery; became an active member, and furnished goods from his store to give them a start, and said he would lay his wife and family in one common grave before he would submit to Union rule.

He moved all his effects, store, goods &c to Richmond and there remained during the war giving aid and comfort to the enemy. The within named property is held by the Bureau.
