distribution among the destitute. The difficulty of procuring food is not so great as that of clothing.

All the counties make provisions for the support of the indigent infirm of both colors.
 
The Freedmen have but few cases in the courts in which they are charged with violating the laws. Considering the fact that in most of the counties nearly all the civil officers are exrebels who are opposed to the Freedmen becoming self supporting or enjoying the rights of Freemen there is as much improvement and as good order as could be expected.
