Greensville County June 9th 1968.

Maj Gen Stoneman. Richmond Va

By request of the citizens of this portion of the county both white & black, I most respectfully represent, that the people in this section, are in a destitute condition. Corn is very scarce, and people generally are without means of purchasing even if the corn were in the country - If you could provide any means by which you could supply corn, in this section, you would save much suffering and starvation. The corn could be placed in the hands of an agent, and supplied to those who are in need and could pay for it, and to others likewise who are absolutely necessitous and unable to pay for it - If anything can be done by you for the people, please confer with the undersigned for their benefit [[strikethrough]] of the people. [[/strikethrough]] The matter will be brought to the consideration of the next County Court, which action will be communicated to you forthwith -

I am Sir Very Respectfully yr obt Sert.
Tamlin Avent.

My address is Hicksford Greensville Co. Va.
