As counsel for John Hillman I obtained a judgement before the Freedmans Ct at York in favor of said Hillman against John Spear for the Sum of $50- of said amt. Spear paid $21- leaving a balance due of $29-

The statement of facts in the case of Hillman vs Spear are briefly these  

In January 1867 Jno. Hillman sued Jno Spear in the F.B. Court on a written contract for $120. (papers filed in said court)

Judgt. was rendered by s'd court in favor of pltff for sum of $50. & sixty days time was given Spear to pay within which time he paid pltff atty $21.00 & refuses positively to pay any more - Enclosed is statement of W.R.C. Douglas pltff counsel at trial - If within the scope of your authority please take such steps as will secure payment of bal. due on said judgt: I think the circumstances of this case call loudly for relief
