Dear Sir;

Having received instructions from Maj Hambrick to forward no more Bureau business, I am compelled to address you directly with reference to educational matters.

I was yesterday at "Bethany Seats," located near Charles Morris, on the "mountain road", about 18 miles from this place.

The colored people of that section have already erected a very neat and substantial frame 26 x 40.  When completed it will be very commodious and comfortable, and is being constructed in a manner to last for many years.  The site is central and beautiful, it being elevated, retired, and covered with a fine grove of Oak and Hickory.  Mr Morris gives the Trustees a Deed of the land as long
