C. 25. R.F.& A.L. Va. 1st Vol, 1868

Encloses papers containing his application to pay for services as a member of the Freedmen's Court in Va. in Oct. 1865. These papers have been mislaid until within a few days.

An account as advized by Major Johnson, Supt at Fredericksburg is enclosed herewith. Genl Brown ordered that $3. per day should be paid but it is claimed that that amt. is insufficient for the services of a man and horse. Explains the duties performed and journeys made &c &c, and asks that $5.00 per day be allowed for 43 days - the time occupied. States that he has received as yet only $7.50 from Lieut. Roberts - and $6.00 from Lieut. Scott. Being now in needy circumstances asks that early attention may be given to this matter.
