Some of the parties could not attend at the Court House- For all this trouble, I have not made any charge at all- I do not think that five dollars a day is any more than a reasonable compensation for my pennies, taking into consideration all the above stated facts-

I order that you have endorsed on the papers that the claim has been paid - now. This is an entire mistake - Major Johnson will explain and pay that he had never paid me but Seven dollars and fifty cents as appears by his books. Which we examined, a few days ago. Lient Scott who preceded Lient Roberts; as Agent of the Freedman's Bureau at King George L.H. where the courts were hees which I attended, Paid me Six dollars, for which I gave him a receipt. Major Johnson informs me that Lient Scott made me reform of the receipts. The Seven dollars & fifty cents receives of Lient Roberts, and the Six dollars receives of Lient Scott is every cent that I have ever received for my services. As I am now in needy circumstances, I hope you will be pleased to give this matter your early attention and much oblige,

Respectfully Your Obt Servt.
